A photograph of Bogdan Tomashevskiy's THIS PROJECT IS ABOUT PEOPLE which depicts a wooden chair placed in front of a wall filled with multiple rows of very small models of people. These small models are made from either a white or terracotta material.
Artist Bogdan Tomashevsky was born in 1986 in Uzhgorod, Ukraine. In 2010 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture with a bachelor degree in architecture and arts. He worked as an architect from 2008 till 2011. But in 2011 happened an event that turned his whole life upside down, he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease Multiple Sclerosis. The disease struck the musculoskeletal system most of all and so Bogdan began a long search for therapy and remission…
During rehabilitation, he began to use clay to restore hand motor skills. Thus began his creative journey and later he used this material to create his art objects. “Clay and chamotte are noble and environmentally friendly multi-faceted sculptural materials, works from which can be exhibited in any gallery or museum of modern art,” says Bogdan.
Since 2012, Bogdan has changed his life, he already knew exactly what he would be doing in future, he found meaning and he had a dream. He has got married and has a 1.5 year old son. Bogdan no longer worked as an architect but became a freelance artist. As every young artist he experimented, was looking for his own style and recognizable emphasize, a technique that would be modern, simple and complex at the same time.
Today he creates works from different materials, depending on the idea and theme of the project. “First comes the idea or question that the artist wants to raise in, then comes material from which an art object is created,” says Bogdan.
For the last couple of years besides the creation of large clay panels he has been working on a project on the subject of ecology. Eco-project is about where we are going and what awaits us, it is a critical project about the present-day.

1+1+1” is the project about all of us, about the people and for the people, about each of us with his unique, personal opinion, will, feelings. It is close and clear for the audience, but certainly everyone will invest in the reading of the project something personal, something that will shut down and fill it with additional meanings.

Self-identification, awareness of self-essence is impossible without the relations with other people. And although the “other” word provides contrast, dissimilarity, it is not totally alien image for a person who designs it. Each of us is original and unique but one is similar to another. Another constantly accompanies us, he is part of our inner and outer world. Every day we see dozens of people, we notice our similarities and differences, we seek common and special.
So, every detail at work, which was created by Bogdan Tomashevskyi, is the one and only, but at the same time, it is a part of the whole. If you look at the subject from a distance, you can not distinguish one silhouette from others – all they merge into a solid pattern, an abstract relief, which was formed through the thousands of components.

Extra information: PROPERTY DESCRIPTION
The total size of the object is 300x500cm. Consists of 15 wooden panels, 1 panel size is 100x100cm.
There are approximately 7-8 thousand of figures of people, they are 4-7 cm high, made from white and red clay. Each figure was created individually, manually by hands. Formation and copying were not used. Sculptural figures are attached to wooden panel with silicone sealant.
SPECIFICATIONS
15 panels are mounted on a specially created wooden frame according to the size of the installation.
While mounting of art installation two people are required.
The recommended ceiling height of the location is more than 3 meters.
The installation was exhibited once in Ukraine in 2014 in the Shcherbenko Art Center in Kiev.
At the moment I am looking for a place for re-exposure outside of Ukraine.
Open to cooperation with Art Funds, Museums, galleries.
Also in the portfolio, there are other exhibition objects made from different materials.
