The Jaguar C-X75 supercar will finally hit the roads thanks to Callum.

British company Callum, founded in 2019 by former chief designer of the Jaguar brand, Ian Callum.

It will update and adapt to public roads one of the four Jaguar C-X75 stunt supercars built for the 2015 blockbuster Specter, which became one of the most successful parts of the so-called Bond series (a series of films about James Bond, a fictional British intelligence agent).

The C-X75 was one of the highlights of Ian Callum’s tenure as Jaguar’s chief designer, which he held from 1999 to 2019.

The Jaguar C-X75 debuted in 2010 at the Paris Motor Show as a concept car, it was equipped with a hybrid powertrain with two gas turbines and four electric motors.

A year later, JLR announced that the Jaguar C-X75 would go into production: it was planned that 250 copies would be built manually between 2013 and 2015 at the facilities of the British engineering company Williams Advanced Engineering (WAE).

The pre-production prototype of the Jaguar C-X75, shown in 2013, received a more laconic design and a simpler power plant: gas turbines were replaced by a 1.6-liter petrol turbo-four.

The number of electric motors was reduced to two (one per axle), the maximum total power of the power plant was about 860 hp.

It was expected that the production Jaguar C-X75 will accelerate to 100 km/h in 3 seconds, and the top speed will exceed 350 km/h.

Unfortunately, the Jaguar C-X75 never became a serial product: at the end of 2012, the company announced that due to financial difficulties it was canceling the flagship supercar project, and two years later it appeared in the chase scene in the film “Spectre”.

WAE built five special stunt cars for filming.

Externally, they look the same as the pre-production Jaguar C-X75, but have a completely different technical filling: the complex composite body structure has given way to a simpler spatial tubular frame in the spirit of rally cars, and the hybrid power plant has been replaced by a 5.0-liter gasoline compressor V8, all the power of which is transmitted to the rear wheels.

According to Callum, four of the five stunt cars have survived to this day, one of which belongs to an unnamed private client who approached Callum with a request to adapt the supercar from the film for public roads.

Ian Callum’s team happily took on the task, outfitting the stunt C-X75 with new glass, a quieter exhaust system with catalytic converter and new engine tuning.

In addition, the suspension settings have been slightly changed and the ground clearance has been leveled.

It is not reported what the engine power is; for reference, let’s say that on the top production sports car Jaguar F-Type, the 5.0-liter compressor V8 of the AJ series produces a maximum of 575 hp, 700 Nm.

A lot of work has been done to the body: the gaps between the trim panels have been leveled, the carbon-fiber parts have been updated and varnished, normal exterior mirrors have been installed instead of foam models, and the door opening mechanisms have been redesigned.

The salon will be completely updated and equipped with modern electronics, work on it continues.

The updated and road-legal Jaguar C-X75 will make its first public appearance at the Bicester Scramble, a racing event for classic car owners, which will be held on April 21 in the British city of Bicester, Oxfordshire.

Let us add that Callum is not only engaged in custom projects based on existing cars, but also intends to become an automaker itself: last fall, it announced the Skye electric all-terrain coupe of its own design.
