Kia has started testing the next version of the Kia Forte.

A spy video of the Kia Forte successor shows the sedan being tested on California roads.

Despite the crossover craze, a new spy video shows Kia is still committed to sedans.

The company is testing a new three-box car in California.

It appears larger than the K3 compact sedan introduced in early August.

At the same time, it looks different from the K5. The new could become the successor to the Forte and appear in the 2025 model year.

Kia apparently wants to ditch the Forte name in favor of the K4, as the company currently favors alphanumeric designations.

Just as the Optima is now called the K5, this sedan could also get a simplified name.

As for the prototype, it has a full production body and wide headlights at the front and rear.

The as-yet-unconfirmed 2025 Forte features two-tone wheels borrowed from the Hyundai Elantra.

The rear door handles are “hidden” near the C-pillar. The interior of the test car was partially open, revealing the arrangement of screens next to each other.

It has been officially confirmed that the larger K5 sedan will receive a mid-term facelift before the end of this year.

At the same time, the South Korean brand intends to introduce the updated Carnival minivan, equipped with a hybrid power plant.

While the Forte remains and the K5 is revised, the smaller Rio is going out of production after the 2023 model year.

In the world’s leading car markets it is being replaced by the new K3 sedan.

The base LX version now starts at $20,915, with the LXS version priced at $21,415. They went up by $330.

And the GT-Line version has become $630 more expensive, rising to $23,415. GT versions are also offered for $26,315 and $25,615, which differ in their transmissions.

The 2024 Forte GT-Line adds forward collision warning for cyclists, electronic parking brake, highway driver assist, and navigation-based smart cruise control.

These were previously features of the GT-Line Tech Package, which Kia dropped for the new model year.

Available engines include a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 hp and a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 201 hp.

Visually, all changes occurred back in the 2022 model year. The car received a new branded “tiger nose” radiator grille and redesigned headlights.

The instrument panel has grown to 4.2 inches, while the infotainment touchscreen has grown to 10.25 inches.

The Forte also gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
