Ferrari has declassified the 296 Challenge racing coupe, which the Italians developed for their own Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli monocup.

The new product is the successor to the 488 Challenge Evo, and it is built on the basis of the road 296 GTB.

This is already the ninth model for the branded monocup, and the Italians report that it is superior in aerodynamics to all its predecessors.

The body of the two-door is designed so carefully that at 250 km/h the body kit attached to it generates downforce at the level of 870 kg.

According to the developers, this is an unprecedented figure for a mono cup.

The Ferrari 296 Challenge also became the first car in the series to receive a V6 engine.

The coupe is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo six without a hybrid add-on, borrowed from the 296 GT3.

It is reported that the engine on the monocup car is boosted — it produces 700 hp. (+ 100) and 740 Nm (+ 30).

Thanks to this, the Italians managed to achieve a record liter power for the segment — 234 forces.

Among other features of the new product, it is worth noting that it has an ABS Evo Track controller. The latter was taken from the road model and further adapted.

This controller allows you to more accurately dose the braking force on the rear wheels.

The car also features carbon-ceramic CCM-R Plus rotors and specially developed Pirelli tires.

The full premiere of the Ferrari 296 Challenge will take place on October 28, 23 as part of the Finali Mondiali Ferrari event.

As for the car’s racing debut, it can be seen on the tracks of Europe and North America starting next year.

In particular, it will now be available exclusively with one three-liter six-cylinder engine.
