World Information Architecture Day 2024 is a one-day celebration held annually on March 5th by volunteers in multiple locations to stimulate global discussion about information architecture (IA) and its application in everyday life. This is the day we learn about the IA framework and how we can tap into it to make it easier for people to find, understand, and use the information they need. In fact, we are already practicing IA. For example, the web navigation you see when you visit websites is an IA practice.
What is information architecture?
Information architecture (IA) is the framework we use to ensure that the information people need is easy to find and understand. So when you use a website, mobile app, or go into a store and you can find what you need and everything makes sense, that means the information architecture is doing its job.
What is World AI Day?
World IA Day unites the world through information architecture. World Information Architecture Day is an annual conference organized by the World Information Architecture Association (WIAA) and held simultaneously in dozens of cities around the world: www.worldiaday.org.
Who is WIAD for?
Information architects, user experience designers, business owners, content specialists, developers and all web enthusiasts.
It is fundamental to understanding people, situations, objects and concepts. Context is the background information that allows people to make decisions and take informed actions during an experience. When we connect context to user-centered design (UCD) practices, we make better decisions and deliver superior results for IA.
