Updated Porsche Taycan 2024: more power, longer range, higher price.

Porsche has declassified a comprehensively updated family of Taycan electric vehicles, all three bodies — sedan, station wagon, cross-station wagon — have been retained, sales will begin next spring.

Since its debut in 2019, the Porsche Taycan in all its varieties has sold about 150,000 copies around the world; restyling and modernization should maintain consumer interest in it in anticipation of the release of new Porsche “electric vehicles” on the market — for example, the second-generation Macan crossover.

Actually, the restyling of the Taycan turned out to be very modest: the front of the sedan and Sport Turismo station wagon became a little more prominent, and the headlights suffered from the effect of smudges, since the side air ducts are now visually detached from them.

The headlights and lamps, according to Porsche, are completely new, but their shape and size are barely distinguishable from the previous ones.

The rear of the sedan and station wagon has remained virtually unchanged, only the shape of the diffuser under the rear bumper has been adjusted.

The cross-wagon Taycan Cross Turismo in terms of design has become more isolated from the sedan and the usual station wagon: it retains the plastic smudges under the headlights, but their shape has been changed.

The front bumper of the cross-station wagon received side trims that emphasize its relief, and additional decorative mesh appeared on the rear bumper. In addition, all versions of the Taycan have an updated 21-inch wheel design.

The interior design of all versions of the Taycan is the same, but the screens have updated graphics, an improved interface and expanded multimedia capabilities.

The powertrain mode selector to the right of the steering wheel has been made more convenient, and a round drive mode selector on the steering wheel is now standard equipment.

Turbo versions now feature special gray Turbonite emblems.

The Taycan has many more technical changes. The nominal capacity of the 800-volt battery in the basic versions has been increased from 79.2 to 89 kWh, in the Turbo versions — from 93.4 to 105 kWh, while the new batteries are lighter than the previous ones.

The maximum charging power increased from 270 to 320 kW, although the battery can be charged at this power for no more than five minutes, but this was enough that under ideal conditions at an outside temperature of 15 ° C, the charging time from 10% to 80% was reduced from 37 to 18 minutes.

In the power plants, the main rear power module, which combines the electric motor, gearbox and power electronics unit, has been modernized, energy efficiency has been improved, and the available peak power has been increased.

The maximum regenerative power of power plants increased from 290 to 400 kW.

Adaptive air suspension is included as standard equipment; Porsche Active Ride, like the new Panamera, is available for an additional fee.

The standard equipment also includes a new generation energy-saving heat pump and tires with reduced rolling resistance.

The base single-engine rear-wheel drive Taycan sedan with an 89 kWh battery now has 408 hp. instead of the previous 326 hp, the acceleration time to 100 km/h was reduced from 5.4 to 4.8 s, the maximum speed was 230 km/h, the range on one charge increased from 444 to 592 km (hereinafter according to WLTP cycle).

The power of the power plant of the twin-engine all-wheel drive Taycan 4S sedan with an 89 kWh battery increased from 530 to 544 hp, the acceleration time to “hundreds” was reduced from 4.0 to 3.7 s, the maximum speed was 250 km/h, The range on one charge has increased from 454 to 561 km.

The twin-engine Taycan Turbo sedan has a 105 kWh battery, the power of its power plant has increased from 680 to 884 hp, the acceleration time to “hundred” has been reduced from 3.2 to 2.7 s, and the top speed is 260 km/h , the range on one charge has increased from 507 to 634 km.

The top-end twin-engine Taycan Turbo S sedan, which has already managed to update the Nürburgring record, now produces 952 hp. instead of the previous 761, the maximum torque increased from 1050 to 1110 Nm, the acceleration time to “hundreds” was reduced from 2.8 to 2.4 s, the maximum speed was 260 km/h, the range on one charge increased from 468 to 634 km .

The Taycan with station wagon and cross-wagon bodies has the same power ratings as the sedan, but the dynamics are slightly worse and the range on one charge is shorter due to the aerodynamic features of the body.

Of course, after the update, all versions of the Taycan have noticeably increased in price: the basic single-engine sedan now costs in Germany from 101,500 euros (before restyling it was 93,139 euros), the top sedan Taycan Turbo S — from 209,900 euros (before restyling it was 197,740 euros ).

The most expensive in the range, Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo, costs from 211,300 euros (before restyling it was 199,168 euros), with options the price tag can easily be increased to 250,000 thousand and above.
